10 Easy Ways to Build Exercise Into Your Day

Several years ago, my mom gave me a book I have really enjoyed throughout the years.  It is entitled, Lists to Live By, written  By by Alice Gray, Steve Stephens, and John Van Diest.  The reason I like this book so much is that it is 329 pages of 1-2 page lists ranging in a variety of subjects:  health, contentment, marriage, and the list goes on and on.

Today, I would like to share one of these lists with you.  This newsletter will be short, but full of value!

10 Simple Ways to Build Exercise Into Your Day

1.  Use the stairs instead of the elevator. It is such an easy thing to do!

2.  Taking the bus to work?  Try picking up the bus a few blocks away from your normal pickup or drop-off point and walk.
3.  If it is practical, you can take your bike to work.  You will get some great legwork in!

4.  Instead of a coffee break, take an exercise break.  A lot of businesses now offer opportunities to exercise during breaks.  If yours does not, why not try taking a walk?

5.  Park your car further away from when you're going shopping, visiting a friend, etc.

6.  While you are at home watching TV, try doing some crunches, Pilates, or other form of exercise.  Investing in some exercise equipment is a great way to get your exercise in while enjoying your favorite show.  And it is amazing how fast the time flies by!

7.  Buy some inexpensive ankle and wrist weights and wear them around the house while doing your chores.  Boy, is that a workout!

8.  Instead of driving to your destination, try walking.

9.  Find five, ten-minute intervals throughout your day to do some kind of exercise.  That way, you will get your 50 minutes in without trying too hard!

10.  Set your alarm earlier in the morning and take a walk to get coffee, or any other place that you enjoy!

So, there they are.  See how many of these you can implement into your week and how much healthier you will feel!
